City commission members may not drink during a public meeting or risk a $50 fine.
Sec. 54-409. Drinking during public meetings. (a) It shall be unlawful for councilmembers, board or commission members, directors, and employees of the city, or any other person, to consume alcoholic beverages in the council chamber or any other public meeting room or facility owned, rented or leased by the city during any public meeting as defined in R.S. 42:4.2. (b) Whoever violates the provisions of this section shall upon the first conviction thereof, be fined not less than $25.00 nor more than $50.00. Upon the second conviction of a violation of this section, the offender shall be fined not less than $100.00 nor more than $200.00. Upon the third and each subsequent conviction of a violation of this section, the offender shall be fined $300.00 and may additionally be punished by imprisonment for not more than ten days.
